So, why am I applying for this scholarship?
The Master in Design Through New Materials has exactly what I'm looking for truly expanding my knowledge in the tangible aspects of design and learning useful tools for creating a better tomorrow.
Over the past few years I've been having different approaches to materials and design in what might not look like very innovative or connected places, but for me, are just different points of view of the SAME IDEA. I studied professional pastry, ceramics, and courses about natural cosmetics, energy saving, and residue treatment. I also kept myself inspired by professionals from various fields who have a deep connection with physical design.
And what's the connector idea I see?
The power of raw materials and how their various sources plus my actions and interventions to them can have such a wide spectrum of results. Making doughs with flours and oils, with clay and oxides, creating creams or shampoo from scratch, combining micas and chemicals to create new glazes, applying different temperatures, changing the order in which they are combined, and iterating the recipes to get to new things every time.
That said, all this alchemy sounds very appealing but is not enough for me.
Being formed in design and choosing to do it every day as my career just rooted very deeply in my need to solve problematics, which I do daily, but on the communicational arista of design. I'm looking to expand my education in practical and palpable areas that will allow me to modify my environment in an impactful way.
